Mrs. Renee Sussman has been a licensed director since 1991 and the Executive Director of CDC since 1998. She has worked in the education field since 1970 as a resource specialist in Physical Education and Drama, a kindergarten enrichment teacher, summer camp director, licensed staff trainer, and administrator. As Director of CDC she is responsible for curriculum planning and overall administration of the program. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
Ms. Patty Johnson has been a member of the CDC staff since 2004. She has worked with Kindergarten, second and third graders. She taught Kindergarten in the KAT program for the City of Rockville and has an Associate Degree from Montgomery College. She was a Naturalist with Montgomery County Department of Recreation and Parks and the City of Rockville summer camp program. She works as a Naturalist with the Audubon Naturalist’s Society at Woodend Sanctuary.
Mrs. Gloria Ackerman has been at CDC since 2009. She has worked both with the older children and the younger groups. She has a bachelor’s degree from Temple University. She worked in the education field first as an elementary school substitute teacher in Philadelphia and then, after moving to the Potomac area in 1987, she began working as a pre-school teacher at Har Shalom with two-year olds, Mommy and Me, cooking enrichment, and summer camp.
Ms. Stephanie Cecil joined our staff in 2013 and worked with the older children. She now works Before school and substitutes after school. She previously had an in-home day care and worked at Kids After Hours. She is now a paraeducator at Wayside. She has earned credits toward an AA degree from Montgomery College.
Mr. Ludwin Guillen joined the CDC staff in January 2014 and has been an assistant with the Kindergartners and 1st graders. He is presently taking courses at Montgomery College. He would like to continue his education in film school.
- Mrs. Dawn Meyers began at CDC in 2007. She is Assistant to the Director and works before and after school. She is responsible for the afternoon snacks for the children as well as making sure they are taken to and picked up from their activities. She also updates and maintains health and emergency information. Ms. Dawn was an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and worked in the ICU in Wisconsin. More recently she was licensed as a Phlebotomist.
Robert Rizzo is a senior at Churchill High. He attended Wayside Elementary and was in the CDC program for five years. He returned to volunteer to earn SSL hours in the 7th and 8th grades. He has been an aide with the 2nd and 3rd grade group. He swims on as well as coaches the Country Glen dive team. He is also on the Churchill and National dive teams. He hopes to attend the Naval Academy upon graduation.
